Who is responsible
The data controller is the owner of by4.me (full identification and address to be completed). Privacy contact: privacidade@by4.me.
What data we collect
- Account: name, email and password (stored only as a hash, never as plain text) or, if you choose Google, the identifier, name and verified email of your Google account.
- Links: the URLs you shorten, the short code and creation dates.
- Short-link usage statistics: click counts, approximate country, device type and referrer, without identifying individuals.
Why we use it
- To create and manage your account and provide the link shortening, QR code and analytics service (performance of a contract).
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse (legitimate interest).
- To send service communications and, only if you consent, marketing emails; you can withdraw consent at any time.
Advertising on free links
Short links created on free-plan accounts may show visitors an advertising page before redirecting. Paid plans redirect directly.
Sharing and processors
We do not sell your data. We use providers needed to run the service (web hosting and, if you choose it, Google sign-in). Data is processed within the European Economic Area whenever possible; any transfer outside the EEA relies on the safeguards set out in the GDPR.
How long we keep it
We keep data while your account is active. When you delete your account we erase personal data and the associated links, except where the law requires us to retain something.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to and port your data, and withdraw consent. To exercise these rights contact privacidade@by4.me. You may also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in Portugal, cnpd.pt).
Cookie Policy
We only use cookies and local storage that are strictly necessary for the site to work, which do not require consent. If we add analytics or advertising cookies in the future, we will ask for your consent before enabling them.
